Free Traffic Part 1 – Visiting and commenting on Similar Sites

In a post sometime back on 9 Fantastic Ways to get free traffic, I had several requests to further elaborate on them. With that, I shall attempt my very best to further detail the steps on how you can really use these 9 steps to have FREE traffic to your site.

When I talk about free traffic, it would also mean good quality traffic and increasing consistent traffic. I will begin a 9 part series for traffic generation so do keep a close look out if you are keen and subscribe to my feed for the ease of reading.

Free Traffic Part 1 will be short but important.

Visiting and Commenting on Similar Sites is one of the oldest and fundamental way of driving traffic. Why is this so?

In a way there are 2 sides to it. One of them stems from the desire to check out your competition. To do so and visiting their websites allow you to, first of all, see what examples and tips you can pick up on. You also can check out what the competitors’ website is lacking and trying to fill in the gap yourself (creating a niche). Commenting on them will lead them to visit yours as well, creating a friendly competition where everyone seeks to improve. In this way, traffic will be generated from the conversations. Others who visit yours and your competitors’ sites will be drawn into your conversations and visit your links more often.

The other side of it is that the sites you visit complements yours and yours theirs. It creates a feeling of community when everyone comments and seek to improve on each others’ content. Honestly speaking, there is no singular niche that can only contain one person; no one can write everything on a single topic. When your content supplements each other, you create backlinks and trackbacks to increase each others’ visibility and page rank. In a way, everyone grows together and with fabulous content. Synergy creates a multiplicative effect.

For this blog, I have visited many blogs on investment, blogging for an income etc. And it certainly benefited me not only in traffic but also in skills and tips from the gurus.

May you be a successful guru someday.

[...] In most link exchanges, people sign up to surf other websites for credits. And they use these credits to “pay” for others to surf the websites they registered. Psychologically, it is the motivation of more credits that drives them to visit sites and not the inherent desire to see other websites for learning and content exchanging (as mentioned in my last installment on the free traffic generation series).
