Free Traffic Part 2 – Link Exchanges
In the 2nd part of this 9-part series of generating free traffic, we will touch on the topic on link exchanges. There has been some controversies in using link exchanges to drive traffic to one’s site.
Honestly, I don’t really favour in putting high priority in using link exchanges to generate long lasting, consistent traffic. Perhaps as exposure, link exchanges can do a marvellous job but a great website will be able to do without link exchanges in the long run.
What is the downside of link exchanges that I feel strongly about?
Well, it is the quality of traffic.
In most link exchanges, people sign up to surf other websites for credits. And they use these credits to “pay” for others to surf the websites they registered. Psychologically, it is the motivation of more credits that drives them to visit sites and not the inherent desire to see other websites for learning and content exchanging (as mentioned in my last installment on the free traffic generation series).
The result? People just browse through your website without really looking at the content or get interested. Or even worse, people are so centred on the surfing-timer that they don’t even see your website. Or maybe click fraud even!
Link Exchanges a complete No-Go?
Even as that said, we can never discount the benefits of a link exchange. If not, there would not be such a huge proliferation of such exchanges around. The key is to select good ones and remain faithfully with the few that you have selected. If you do that, traffic that flows to you can be of higher quality (due to the surfing criteria and anti-fraud system) and exposure will be greater because registered members are credible too.
The reason for remaining faithfully to a few link exchanges is because it is futile to be spread out surfing all over the place. The credits gained will be measly and you will not be able to concentrate on your efforts to increase your downline and exposure.
For the ease of those who are interested, I have narrowed down 4 that I have tried and tested to be quite effective link exchanges. In other sections of my blog, I might have made reviews on them too.
Success to you!
