Helium – Paid to Write
Helium is like an article directory except that it has much tougher restrictions on submission of articles. Helium prides itself for the quality of content and writers they have. This can be seen as Helium has numerous accolades and partnerships with publishers. One noteworthy aspect is that Helium has tie-ups with Pulitzer and kind.
For budding writers who seek to earn another source of income online, Helium is a good starting ground as they have a good support community that helps writers to develop their skills. Helium’s rating system acts a sieve to weed out low quality articles. Writers can seek to improve in that way too.
Writers can earn in 3 different ways:
- Marketplace – writers earn by writing to titles where publishers would pick the most suitable of the lot to pay. Payment of the article is one-off if purchased.
- Contests – at this point of writing, there are writing contests to boost article numbers in certain title areas. Scoring the most points (achieved by quantity and quality) for the first 3 positions would earn you some cash.
- General article writing – writing articles and posting them in Helium would earn residual income as long the article exist on Helium. This is dependent on the page views it generates and how “hot” your article is. If you are lucky, a publisher might select your article and give you a one-off payment and you would still earn residual income as you retain the ownership (unlike market place).
If you invite writers into Helium, you can earn a 5% commission of their total earnings as well. However, you can invite them via Helium’s invite page as they try to maintain the quality of writers entering Helium.
