It looks like he is teaching his readers to use separate accounts to get free credits (black hat strategy?). Usually these free credits from Google is used as a starter for beginners to test their hand at their Adwords product. If you see my Bidvertiser icon on the bottom left, joining will give you a free $20 trial as well. I did that once and tried it. From my point of view, I think you have a pretty decent site and would have pretty good traffic as well. If you are really keen and see blogging as a long term thing you would do for this niche, i think it would be great if you have a domain name and do your own self hosting at the end.
